Great Portuguese bakery with every kind of Portuguese bread. The place is usually crowded, but the line moves fast and you can almost always get a table if you want to drink a coffee or tea and bread or pastry. The soups are good and the staff knows some English, otherwise Portuguese and Spanish. Comfortable atmosphere.

There was a line of 6 people. There was 7 workers, and they worked painfully slow. I asked for some Pasteis de Nata, and 2 Coxinha. The entire time I was watching them take there sweet time, and once it was finally ready she began to talk with the cashier. I was so annoyed, because I ended up being late for work because they were so damn slow. I didn't want to give them attitude but I wish i did. Don't go there if you need something quick.

Had to take a break from highway driving while on a road trip with my teens. We ended up in the Ironbound neighborhood of Newark, NJ. We stumbled upon this gem of a bakery that specializes in authentic Portuguese breads and pastries. We learned that Newark has a sizeable Portuguese population. The ladies working at the bakery where actually speaking in Portuguese. We learned that there are a lot more varieties of baked goods from Portugal than the classic Portuguese Roll, which tastes rather like a mini baguette. This bakery has an egg custard tart called a PASTEL DE NATA that is simply sublime. It will absolutely fill your mouth with a divine experience of taste and umami. Just wow!!!!! This is a destination bakery for sure. I just wished I had tasted the custard tart in the bakery instead of taking it out and eating it later that evening. I then would have known to buy at least a half dozen!

This bakery servers the best tarts with crispy cover and delicious custard inside. Loved everything we had there - chicken sandwich, vegetable soup, carrot muffin add croissant. Great service, the staff is courteous and welcoming.
